UPDATE: FLASHEUROPE IS A SCAM. MORE INFORMATION!

What a crazy week it was. Earlier this week i was in Paris, then i flew back to Amsterdam for a day of BackBase training ( BackBase is a company that offers a solution to create enterprise RIA applications using Javascript and XML, more info on it in another posting ) and now i’m in Barcelona for the pre-Flash Europe conference event.

You’ve probably all heard of the Flash Europe festival being postponed to March 2005 last month. Some people say they were pretty dissapointed to hear yet another european conference was being rescheduled and i can’t deny i wasn’t. Harold, one of the organizers was so kind to invite me over just to meet up with everyone here, and to be present at some preconference events, so wednessday i flew to Barcelona. Sagradafamilia523

Two days ago we had dinner in a nice little restaurant called Es, and to my surprise Craig Swan from CRASH!MEDIA was over from Canada. It’s nice to bump into people unexpected who you haven’t seen for awhile. Also Ferry and Rolf aka DPDK were there together with Boudewijn Danser ( we used to go to the School of Arts in Rotterdam together and now he runs his own flash animation company called BDisOKE ). I met some nice people who helped out with organising the event ( Stephanie and Ana ) and also met Robert who runs a company in Barcelona called Digital Samba and do a lot of cool FCS related stuff.

We’re preparing for another event in a club named La Paloma. There will be a jam session with several VJ’s and live music and performances. After that i’ll be heading back to the airport as my plane to Amsterdam leaves at 6AM in the morning. Tomorrow night i’ll probably go partying again, as the famous Wasteland organisation will throw their 10th year anniversary party. Dresscode: leather & skin. Nuf said.

Contrary to popular believe, the Flash Europe conference is very much live and happening, the organisation is very nice and putting a lot of time and energy to make it one of the best european flash related conferences and the line up is amazing. So write down March 9-11 2005 in your calendar and make sure you book your tickets cause it will be loads of fun.
Barcelona is great for partying, the nights are long and warm, the sangria tastes good as ever and there is lots to see here.

A nice bonus will be my birthday on March 12 so there will be some serious partying going on..promised. Also if you’re into skateboarding, Barcelona is the premier skatecity of Europe having places like Macba so bring it with you and we’ll do a serious nightly session cruising Barcelona…

  1. Hallo,

  2. Oh, i wrote the comment above in Dutch without thinking.

Is there anyone who knows something about the FlashEurope Convention and how to get in contact with the organizers?

We already paid for our entrances and booked flights so we are getting pretty worried about the fact that the organisation seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth. Phonecalls or e-mails are not being answered.
